Emre Can reflects on Borussia Dortmund’s DFB Pokal win: “It wasn’t a good game from us.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win against 2. Bundesliga’s Hannover in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday evening, Emre Can stated his disappointment at BVB’s performance but praised Gregor Kobel, who made several key saves.

“We didn’t play well but it was also difficult on this pitch. Respect to Hannover,” said Can. “We’ve got Gregor Kobel in goal. It wasn’t a good game from us but getting through is the only thing that counts. We want to play beautiful football, but we’re not managing that at the moment. We’re working on it. We want to win; we managed that.”

Youssoufa Moukoko’s shot inside 11 minutes was deflected in by Hannover defender Bright Arrey-Mbi before Jude Bellingham doubled Borussia Dortmund’s lead from the spot after 71 minutes. Karim Adeyemi will be unavailable for BVB’s Round of 16 fixture after being shown a red card five minutes from time.

On Saturday, Dortmund face Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
