Bayern Munich want to extend with Lucas Hernandez

Bayern Munich want to extend the contract of Lucas Hernandez beyond 2024, according to Kicker. Preliminary discussions with the Frenchman’s entourage have already taken place with both parties seemingly wanting to find an agreement.

Hernandez (26) suffered an adductor injury in September against Barcelona and hasn’t featured for Bayern Munich since. The France international is currently working on making a comeback and Bayern’s Julian Nagelsmann’s hopes that he’ll “get fit again before the World Cup.”

Joining the Rekordmeister from Atlético Madrid for €80m in 2019, Hernandez received criticism from Bayern fans and former players during the early parts of his career in Germany. However, the Frenchman has developed into one of Nagelsmann’s key players over the last 18 months.

Bayern Munich came from behind to beat Augsburg in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday evening. Their 5-2 result puts them into the Round of 16 for the first time since 2019.
