In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?
Manu’s game of the week: Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund
I wasn’t 100% convinced by Borussia Dortmund’s performance on matchday 1 and Karim Adeyemi being out is going to hurt them. Freiburg, on the other hand, have been very impressive. I think it will be interesting to see whether Anthony Modeste can be a factor in this game right away.
Stefan’s game of the week: Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg
There is history there of course with Niko Kovac facing his former club. Bayern Munich are likely to win this game, however, Wolfsburg could make it interesting. On paper the Wolves have put together a very good squad and it is just a matter of them making it all work.
Manu’s predictions:
- Freiburg 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
- Werder Bremen 1-2 Stuttgart
- Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Augsburg
- Hertha Berlin 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
- Hoffenheim 1-1 Bochum
- Leipzig 3-2 Köln
- Schalke 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
- Mainz 2-2 Union Berlin
- Bayern Munich 4-1 Wolfsburg
Stefan’s predictions:
- Freiburg 1-2 Dortmund
- Leverkusen 2-0 Augsburg
- RB Leipzig 2-1 FC Koln
- Hoffenheim 1-1 Bochum
- Hertha 0-1 Frankfurt
- Bremen 0-2 Stuttgart
- Schalke 1-2 Gladbach
- Mainz 1-2 Union
- Bayern 3-1 Wolfsburg
Scored after MD1: Manu – 6, Stefan – 5.
