Bayern Munich submit opening offer for Konrad Laimer

As reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have submitted an opening offer to RB Leipzig for 25-year-old midfielder Konrad Laimer. The transfer fee amounts to less than Leipzig’s €30m asking price.

Laimer has 12 months remaining on his RB Leipzig contract and wants clarity on his future. Bayern Munich have shown interest in signing the Austria international but until now, had failed to make an official offer, knowing that Leipzig are under pressure to sell should the player not sign an extension.

It’s been reported that Bayern Munich only value Laimer at around €20m. The central-midfielder has a preference to join Bayern Munich, where he would link up with his former coach, Julian Nagelsmann, who sees Laimer as his desired player for midfield.

This could of course be a busy weekend for Bayern Munich, who seem ready to negotiate with Barcelona regarding Robert Lewandowski. Both clubs want clarity on the 33-year-old’s future in the coming days as they prepare for a US tour with Barcelona reportedly ready to submit a new bid.
