Bayern Munich open to Paul Wanner loan

As reported by Maximilian Koch of Abendzeitung, Bayern Munich would be open to allowing Paul Wanner to leave the Bundesliga club on loan in the summer or winter of 2023 to gain match experience.

The possibility of a loan is being discussed internally and is one that makes sense. The German youth international, who has Austrian citizenship, has played just 45 minutes of football across the Bundesliga and Champions League for Bayern Munich this season.

Wanner (16) has been tried at left-back for Bayern Munich this season due to the plethora of attacking players in the first team. As a result, Julian Nagelsmann is unable to guarantee first team minutes and so it may be necessary to find minutes at another club on loan.

Per Koch, Wanner has also been promised a spot in Ralf Rangnick’s Euro 2024 squad should Austria qualify for the tournament. But before that, he’s expected to have a conversation with Germany head coach Hansi Flick before picking his national team.

Wanner has taken part in a training camp with the Austrian national team.
