Bayer Leverkusen plan to offer Tottenham Hotpsur target Piero Hincapié new contract

Kicker report that amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen are planning to offer Piero Hincapié a new contract beyond 2026 with a salary increase following the Ecuadorian’s rapid rise in development.

Speaking to the Kicker Magazine, sporting director Simon Rolfes added: “The situation is relatively simple for him. I know there are many interested parties for him but he also has a long-term contract.”

Hincapié (20) arrived last summer from CA Talleres for just over €6m and was considered to be used for the future but defensive injuries saw the Ecuadorian play 33 games across all competitions last season. The ability to play central-defence and left-back, Hincapié made Get German Football NewsUnder 23 Team of the Season, following injuries to Mitchel Bakker and Daley Sinkgraven.

If Hincapié was to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, it would take a significant fee before the Bundesliga side even consider selling a prized defensive asset.
