Arsenal’s Bernd Leno to undergo Fulham medical

Arsenal’s Bernd Leno is expected to undergo his Fulham medical this week, according to The Athletic.

This comes after Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported last week that an agreement in principle between the two clubs had been reached – Arsenal will receive around £8m, with just the last details being finalised between the two London clubs.

Fulham’s interest in Leno (30) initially arose in June, the German’s agent, Joannis Koukoutrigas, told Bild:Yes, Fulham is trying hard to get Bernd. Very professionally. This is also true for some other clubs and shows his status but as I said, for me he is the No. 1 at Arsenal and we are therefore also relaxed.”

Leno was displaced at Arsenal by Aaron Ramsdale but since his €25m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018, the German goalkeeper has played 125 games across all competitions.

Left out of Hansi Flick’s latest Germany squad, a move to Fulham and regular playing time offers Leno an excellent opportunity to work his way back into the national team ahead of the World Cup.
