Angelo Fulgini set to join Mainz for €6m

Mainz have moved quickly to secure the signing of Angelo Fulgini from Ligue 1 side Angers who is set to undergo a medical with the Bundesliga club as early as Tuesday, according to Kicker.

The 25-year-old will then sign a four-year contract with Mainz until 2026. M05 will pay a reported fee between €5m-€6m for the former French youth international, who scored five and created four in 36 league games last season.

Rangers and fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach had also shown an interest in signing Fulgini, but Mainz have moved quick to secure the deal as they searched the market for a replacement to Jean-Paul Boëtius, who left the club on a free transfer after his contract expired.

Fulgini has played 149 games in Ligue 1 for Angers, scoring 20 and creating 15. Mainz also appear to be working on a deal to sign Mergim Berisha from Fenerbahçe as they look to bolster their attacking options. This comes after M05 received around €15m from selling Moussa Niakhaté to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest last week.
