Robert Lewandowski on Bayern Munich’s comeback: “I think that was something special.”

Speaking after Bayern Munich’s comeback against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening, Robert Lewandowski praised his teammates response in the second half after going 2-0 down inside 10 minutes.

“We know that maybe the first 15-20 minutes we didn’t play well but after we conceded the goal, we knew that we had to push forward, we hard to try and score the next goal,” said Lewandowski.

“In the second half, we had the game under control and we said ‘come on boys, we have to try and score another goal’ because we want to get three points.

“We did that and I think that was something special and we showed everyone that we want to stay in first place.”

Erling Haaland scored after 82 seconds and nine minutes before Lewandowski scored a brace of his own before the break. Leon Goretzka gave Hansi Flick’s side the lead two minutes before time before Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.

Bayern Munich climb back above RB Leipzig.
