Schalke have announced the signing of 28-year-old German defender Shkodran Mustafi on a six-month contract.
Mustafi joins on a free transfer after he reached an agreement with Premier League side Arsenal for the early termination of his contract, allowing him to join Schalke.
The 2014 World Cup winner played 151 games in all competitions since joining Arsenal from Valencia in 2016 but has failed to play regular football since the departure of Arsene Wenger.
As a result of Mustafi’s arrival, 20-year-old defender Ozan Kabak has joined Liverpool on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.
