Liverpool in talks to sign Ozan Kabak on loan with option to buy

Premier League side Liverpool are in talks to sign 20-year-old defender Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke with an option to buy, according to Sky Germany.

Liverpool had made a proposal to sign 24-year-old Marseille defender Duje Caleta Car and has even reached a fee agreement with the French club. A U-turn however will now see the Croatian remain at Marseille, who blocked the move as they were concerned that they are unable to find a replacement in time.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Kabak may be of similar fate. Schalke would be willing to allow the Turkey international to leave the club but only if they find a suitable replacement. The deadline in Germany closes at 5pm UK time and so time is of the essence.

The Premier League showed previous interest in signing Kabak during the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise.

If Schalke fail to find a replacement, expect Kabak to remain at the Bundesliga club until the summer.
