Hertha Berlin appoint Pál Dárdai as head coach, 1.5-year contract

Hertha Berlin have announced the appointment of Pál Dárdai as their new head coach.

“It was definitely not my plan to switch from the U16s to the professional coaching position,” said the 44-year-old. “But I don’t need to explain to anyone what Hertha means to me. So, it was no question for me, that I was going to help out in this situation. I’m looking forward to this task and working with the team.”

Dárdai has signed a 1.5-year contract with Hertha Berlin and is joined by Andreas Neuendorf and Admir Hamzagic, goalkeeping coach Zsolt Petry and fitness coaches Henrik Kuchno and Hendrik Vieth.

The Hungarian returns to the Hertha Berlin dugout on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt following the dismissal of head coach Bruno Labbadia and sporting director Michael Preetz on Sunday morning.

Hertha Berlin currently find themselves in 14th, just two points above FC Köln who occupy the relegation play-off position (16th).
