Hansi Flick on David Alaba: “Things are going in the direction of a possible move.”

Speaking in his pre-match presser, Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick has hinted that 28-year-old defender David Alaba could leave Bayern Munich.

“It is always possible that a player leaves when his contract expires,” said Flick. “So far I have not heard from him. He is focused and did well against Freiburg. Currently, I can see that things are going in the director of a possible move.

“If a player of his quality quality leaves, the club need to bring in a player of similar quality to replace him,” added Flick.

Spanish outlet Marca reported on Monday night that Real Madrid had reached an agreement with the Austrian over a 4-year contract – Alaba would join the club when his contract expires in the summer.

Talks between Bayern Munich and the entourage of Alaba broke down last year after both parties failed to reach an agreement on salary – if he was to leave Germany, Spain (Barcelona or Real Madrid) would be his preferred destination.
