FC Köln interested in signing Max Meyer

According to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, FC Köln are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer on a free transfer when his contract with the Premier League club expires.

However, Meyer would need to take a significant pay cut to join the Billy Goats with his €10 million salary too much for the Bundesliga side, who are fighting against relegation.

Meyer is yet to play in the Premier League this season and has fallen out of favour under Roy Hodgson, with Crystal Palace willing to allow the former Schalke playmaker to leave the London club.

FC Köln sporting director Horst Heldt has also identified former midfielder Yannick Gerhardt as a potential summer arrival as they look to add further options in midfield.

Like Meyer, Gerhardt also has just six-months remaining on his current contract and it currently stalling on an extension with VfL Wolfsburg. Both are free to negotiate with other clubs.
