Sport1 report that Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria has dropped agency Lian Sports and will instead be represented by family members.
The Switzerland international has just 12 months remaining but because of a change in representatives, there’s now a possibility that Zakaria could sign a contract extension with Gladbach, according to Bild – Zakaria played under Gladbach head coach Adi Hütter during their time at Young Boys.
The 24-year-old has interest from Italian side AS Roma but per Florian Plettenberg, no negotiations had taken place between all parties.
Sporting director Max Eberl recently stated that he doesn’t want players entering the final year of their contract without the possibility of an extension: “With players in this category, we don’t want to afford to simply let contracts expire.”
This hints that if Zakaria does remain at the Bundesliga side, there is a possibility of a contract extension.
