Hertha Berlin have today announced the departure of 22-year-old Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha to Spanish side Atlético Madrid for a reported €30 million.
“In football there are often new opportunities for players and clubs at short notice,” said Hertha sporting director Fredi Bobic. “It’s important that such a transfer makes sense for everyone involved. In this case, Matheus wanted a new challenge and found it at a Champions League club in Spain.”
Cunha leaves Hertha BSC after 18 months at the Bundesliga club, where he scored 10 and created 13 in 40 games for Die Alte Dame.
