Arne Friedrich confirms Matheus Cunha (Hertha BSC) contract extension

Hertha Berlin sporting director Arne Friedrich confirmed in a press conference on Thursday that the Bundesliga side have extended the contract of Matheus Cunha by a further year until 2025.

“I can confirm that we have extended Matheus Cunha’s contract,” said Friedrich. “We sat down with Matheus and we came to the agreement that we’re extending his contract for another year.”

Premier League side Leeds United had shown an interest in signing the 21-year-old Brazilian and were keen on signing Cunha during the last transfer window.

Cunha has scored seven and created six in 27 Bundesliga games for Hertha Berlin this season, who last weekend confirmed their Bundesliga status with a 0-0 draw against FC Köln.
