Wolfsburg star Pernille Harder set to join Chelsea for record fee

The Champions League final is set to be the last game of Pernille Harder’s Wolfsburg career before an imminent transfer to Wolfsburg, according to Sportbuzzer.

Back in February and March, Chelsea were not prepared to pay the fee stipulated in Harder’s release clause to sign the Danish international, but now that the deadline for the release clause has passed, it seems as if Emma Hayes’ side are set to sign the striker.

Harder’s girlfriend, Chelsea captain Magdalena Eriksson, plays for the London club and Harder has spoken in the past about wanting to play with Eriksson again – the last time the two were in the same club was when they played for Linköpings FC in Sweden between 2013 and 2016.

The reported fee for any possible transfer would be €350,000, the largest fee ever paid for a Frauen-Bundesliga player. If Harder stayed with the Wölfinnen until the end of her contract, Wolfsburg would receive no fee.

Harder became the first woman to be named Niedersachsens Footballer of the Year this season after an impressive league campaign that saw her score 27 times in only 22 games. She is also second in the running for the Champions League golden boot, just one goal behind Vivianne Miedema’s ten.
