Timo Werner to Chelsea could be finalised next week

Kicker report this evening that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner to Premier League club Chelsea is to be finalised next week.

The 24-year-old is in talks with Chelsea over a five-year deal with the Stamford Bridge outfit ready to trigger his €60 million release clause.

Bild suggest that Werner will earn more than €10m per season plus bonuses. Liverpool have also shown concrete interest in signing the attacker but could reach a fee with RB Leipzig.

Werner signed a contract extension with RB Leipzig last summer until 2023 to prevent the Germany international leaving on a free transfer this summer.

His departure will likely see RB Leipzig trigger the buy-clause in Patrik Shick’s contract, the Czech Republic international impressing during his loan move from AS Roma.

RB Leipzig have also been linked with Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica, who could leave the Bundesliga club for as little as €15m if they are relegated from the top flight.
