Serge Gnabry: “The spirit we always talk about, in the end it came through.”

Speaking to BT Sport after Bayern Munich’s 1-0 triumph over PSG to win their sixth European championship, Serge Gnabry discussed the team spirit after a tough opening 45 minutes.

“Winning the trophy today is the best thing that could happen to us, I think all season we worked incredibly hard. The spirit that we always talk about, in the end it came through and we’re happy to be the best team in Europe,” said Gnabry.

The Germany international also commended PSG and their efforts.

“It’s the final. Paris came out wanting to win, we came out wanting to win and it’s always going to be a difficult game and no one’s going to give up easy and in the end we came through and that’s all that matters.

“As long as it was 0-0 it was always going to be open for us. they have incredible talent up front with Neymar Mbappé and Di Maria and it’s not easy to stop them, lucky they didn’t score and I’m happy we did score.”

Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the game, a special moment for the Frenchman, who started ahead of Ivan Perisic.

“He helped us extremely,” added Gnabry. “He came in and for him to score that goal after being out for a couple of games injured, it’s incredible.”
