Bayer Leverkusen have this evening announced the departure of 22-year-old Greek defender Panagiotis Retsos to Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne on a season-long loan.
The French club then have an option to purchase Retsos, who spent the last six months on loan at Premier League side Sheffield United, for €6.5 million.
Bayer Leverkusen had both Retsos and Austrian defender Aleksandar Dragović on the market on deadline day – with the European market open until 11pm GMT, it’s unlikely that Dragović will leave.
