Bayer Leverkusen failed to reach agreement with Werder Bremen for Milot Rashica

With 45 minutes remaining in the transfer window, Bayer Leverkusen made a deadline day swoop for 24-year-old Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica.

Speaking to Kicker, Bayer managing director Rudi Völler explained why the deal fell through at the final hurdle – the two Bundesliga clubs were unable to agree a fee regarding the purchase option.

“There were difficulties about the purchase option. We and Bremen had different concepts about this. In the end, we weren’t able to come to an agreement in time,” said Völler.

With just over two hours remaining in the European transfer market, it’s now likely that Rashica will remain at Werder Bremen.
