Joshua Kimmich faces three months on the sidelines

As reported by DAZN‘s Alex Schlüter, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich could face up to three months out after picking up an injury during their 3-2 Klassiker victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening.

Kicker report that the 25-year-old has torn his meniscus in his knee and will require surgery, which would see Kimmich be sidelined for around three months.

The Germany international has been integral for Bayern Munich under Hansi Flick and he’s the one player that the Bundesliga side would struggle to replace. The likely option would be that Corentin Tolisso plays alongside Leon Goretzka but we could see 23-year-old summer arrival Marc Roca get some minutes – whilst Javi Martínez can also slot into midfield.

Another option would be to play David Alaba in his favoured midfield role with Niklas Süle returning alongside Jerome Boateng with Lucas Hernandez. Whilst the loss of Kimmich is a huge blow to Bayern, Flick still has plenty of options at his disposal.
