Speaking in an extensive interview with Spanish outlet Marca, DFL CEO Christian Seifert discussed German football returning and reports linking Erling Braut Haaland to Real Madrid.
“Any great player leaving is a loss. But I’ll ask you: if he’s so good then why is he at [Borussia] Dortmund,” said Seifert. “It’s easy now to admire a player who is already at the focus of worldwide attention. The hard thing is signing him before that happens. Dortmund did that, again doing an excellent job.”
The Bundesliga returned last weekend following a two month break amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re happy with the Bundesliga 1 and 2. The clubs’ work was great, the players’ discipline was also excellent. Everything went well, but there’s always room to improve,” added Seifert.
“My only objective has been to lead the restart in the best conditions possible. We’ve received a lot of compliments from around the world and a lot of leagues are interested in our protocol and organisation, so that is a great honour. The sooner sport returns, the better it is for society.”
