Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastian Kehl: “I was pleased with some things but not others.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt, head of the licensed player division Sebastian Kehl discussed BVB’s performance which has left them four points behind Bayern Munich.

“We saw two very contrasting halves,” said Kehl. “We can’t be satisfied with the first one. We made significant improvement in the second and applied more pressure. We had a few opportunities in the second half to go on and win the game.

“Gio Reyna produced a very good performance, not just because of his goal. He was always dangerous in one on one situations and got the reward with his goal. But there was also good build-up play from Jadon Sancho, who was involved in a lot of good moments as well.”

Frenchman Dan-Axel Zagadou returned to the starting XI following a lengthy time on the sidelines owing to an injury: “Dan played again for the first time in a long time, he was a bit tired by the end too.”

Speaking about the game in general, Kehl added: “I was pleased with some things but not others, we’ll analyse and talk about that. We don’t have a lot of time. We have the game in St. Petersburg on Tuesday. We absolutely want to win that match to ensure we stay top of the group.”

Reyna equalised for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday after Daichi Kamada game Eintract Frankfurt the lead after nine minutes.
