Bayer Leverkusen reject €80m Real Madrid offer for Kai Havertz

Bayer Leverkusen have rejected Real Madrid’s first offer for 20-year-old attacker Kai Havertz, according to Bild.

The Spanish giants have tested Leverkusen’s resolve with an initial €80 million fee that would see Havertz remain at the Bundesliga club until 2021.

Rudi Völler, managing director and Simon Rolfes, sporting director at Bayer Leverkusen have constantly insisted that they will not accept an offer for Havertz anything less than €100 million.

The Bundesliga club have no need to sell their players in the summer. Only if Bayer receive an offer of €100m will they then think about selling the Germany international. Sources close to the club suggest that they will then have the opportunity to invest in several players at moderate prices due to the financial impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
