1. FC Köln have parted ways with head coach Achim Beierlorzer with immediate effect after their 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim on Friday evening. André Pawlak and Manfred Schmid will take over as interim.
“I regret that we’ve had to take this step, because we value Achim Beierlorzer very highly. However, the hoped for sporting success hasn’t been achieved so far and it’s our job to do everything to ensure FC achieve our goals. We made this decision together with the Board and the Managing Directors, and with the approval of the Joint Committee,” said sporting director Frank Aehlig.
