Juventus reject initial €35m Dortmund offer for Mattia Caldara rebuffed

Borussia Dortmund have seen their initial €35 million bid for Mattia Caldara rejected by Juventus – who also rejected a bid of €30m by Premier League giants Chelsea, according to Di Marzio.

The report suggests that the Bundesliga outfit had offered a further €5m in performance related bonuses.

Caldara spent last season on loan to Atalanta where he impressed and the Italian now has some of Europe’s elite clubs vying for his signature.

As it looks like Juventus will lose defender Daniele Rugani to Chelsea, with a move reported to be close, the Bianconeri will likely be reluctant to see anymore defenders depart the club, therefore it seems like it will take a lot to persuade Massimiliano Allegri to let Caldara leave.

In terms of Borussia Dortmund’s search for another central defender, Caldara’s name seems to be plucked out of nowhere.
