Schalke are set to use their purchase option on Yevhen Konoplyanka, sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed.
“Even though he did not make the squad today, you have to clearly say that we would like to and will keep him. We believe that Kono can be very, very important for us. Nobody at Schalke doubts his footballing qualities,” Heidel told reporters.
The Bundesliga club have an agreed fee with Sevilla, around €12 million should the Ukrainian play a set number of games, of which Heidel says that “he will reach that number.”
