Hans-Joachim Watzke: “I think Aubameyang will stay”

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has told Sport1 that he expects Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay at the Westfalenstadion, but should the opportunity arise to join Real Madrid or Barcelona, then he’ll think about it.

“I think he will stay with us. But if Real Madrid or Barcelona come along with an offer, maybe he’ll think about it. The rest of the clubs who are interested in him are not really an alternative for him. And certainly not Bayern because we wouldn’t allow him join them.”

Brought to Dortmund under Jürgen Klopp in 2013, Aubameyang is now enjoying his best season to date, scoring 25 Bundesliga goals in 26 appearances this season.

Under contract until 2020, a potential suitor may have to pay in upwards of €80 million to acquire the services of Aubameyang.
