After a speculation of a move to Europe’s top clubs, Timo Horn has extended his 1. FC Köln contract until 2022, confirmed the club prior to their Rheinderby on Saturday afternoon.
The extension is certainly a huge statement of intent for the Billy Goats who are on the verge of qualifying for next season’s Europa League.
“FC is my club and Cologne is my sporting home. The club has made tremendous progress in recent years and I want to continue on this path together. I remain ambitious and am convinced that we can still accomplish plenty together. I thank FC for the trust and faith instilled in me. I am excited to face the next challenges with my teammates and our incredible fans,” says Horn.
“Timo Horn is an excellent goalkeeper. His development at FC is remarkable and documents his ambition. It is phenomenal that he has decided for a long-term future with FC,” added Peter Stöger.
