Schalke coach Markus Weinzierl was more than pleased with his team’s performance against their rivals Borussia Dortmund on Saturday following their 0-0 stalemate.
“A 0-0 [draw] is fine, we can build on this,” said Weinzierl. “We’re now on a run of seven games unbeaten, in all competitions, and that is how we want things to continue to put right our bad start to the season.
“It was a good performance from us. The team defended very well and were disciplined.
“We didn’t give them a chance in the first half and we can build on that. Dortmund were dangerous at the end and you can’t keep such attacking talent quiet for 90 minutes, so we had that bit of luck we needed.”
