Marcelo Pletsch handed jail term

Former Borussia Mönchengladbach player Marcelo Pletsch has been sentenced to nine years and two months in jail after bring arrested for drug trafficking offences, report Sport Bild.

Pletsch was arrested with 793kg of marijuana in Brazil before being arrested in November 2015 by military police, after finding 854 bars pressed in his truck.

The 40-year-old continues to protest his innocence, although one lawyer told Sport Bild: “It’s highly unlikely that the verdict would change.”
