Official | Alexander Nübel extends his contract at Bayern Munich

Alexander Nübel has extended his contract at Bayern Munich, the club has confirmed

The 27-year-old goalkeeper is now penned in his stay in Bavaria until 2029.

An agreement has also been reached with VfB Stuttgart that Nübel will return to the club this summer when his original loan is due to expire.

Nübel has had a season to remember with the Swabians, who look set to achieve a Champions League spot for next season.

Nübel has long been a conversation at Bayern, even during his time in Ligue 1 with Monaco. The 27-year-old has always refused to be number two to Manuel Neuer and isn’t interested in being at the club until he retires.

Should Neuer extend his own contract next year, Nübel will most likely stay for an additional year in Stuttgart until 2026.

Internally at Bayern, Nübel is seen as the natural successor from Neuer and are happy for him to play regular football elsewhere. The fact Stuttgart will be in the Champions League next season is a massive bonus.

Upon putting pen to paper, the GK said: “I’m very happy about this decision and the trust that FC Bayern has placed in me, and at the same time I feel very comfortable in Stuttgart. I want to be successful with VfB and take the next steps.”
