Bundesliga – not to mention several standout performances for the Germany U21s – saw the  20-year-old raise his estimated market value from €700,000 to €12m over the last 13 months. This led to Bayern exercising a buyback option on their former academy man as soon as the current summer 2026 transfer market

Why did the Noël Aséko negotiations drag on so long?

Most media reports suggested that Bayern were hoping to obtain upwards of €15m for Aséko. Initially, Max Eberl and the FCB administrative team had the Berlin-native earmarked as a potential replacement for the departed Leon Goretzka. The fact that Bayern have also spent an estimated combined €100m (€50m apiece) on the new sumer additions Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown also shifted the economic calculus.

It was such that Bayern held out for slightly more money. Kicker and other major German footballing media sources do not offer additional details on potential bonus payments at this time. It can nevertheless be assumed that some are built into the deal. Moreover, Bayern may well have hedged their bets once again with another buyback option.
