Josha Vagnoman’s proposed deadline-day transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Hull City has collapsed despite negotiations previously appearing to have reached an advanced stage. Sky Germany reports that Stuttgart and Hull ultimately failed to finalize an agreement for the 25-year-old former Germany international, who will now remain with the Swabians barring an unexpected late alternative.
The development represents a significant reversal from the situation only one day ago. Get German Football News reported on Monday that Stuttgart and Hull had reached the framework of a €6.5m deal for Vagnoman, with VfB also reportedly in line to retain a substantial percentage of the player’s future transfer rights.
The previous report noted that the decision still rested with the player.
The newly promoted Premier League club officially unveiled Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah as a new signing earlier today, but also found themselves frustrated in their attempts to acquire Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Jean-Matteo Bahoya this past weekend. The Tigers have thus had mixed success in their Bundesliga recruitment efforts.
Vagnoman hints at Stuttgart stay
Vagnoman himself appeared to acknowledge the change in circumstances during Stuttgart’s Tuesday training session. Asked by a supporter whether he would remain with VfB, the 25-year-old offered a concise response.
“Looks like it!” Vagnoman replied.
Vagnoman remaining despite interest from other Premier League clubs now seems the most likely outcome.
