Eintracht Frankfurt have officially confirmed the departure of Swedish international Hugo Larsson to Fulham. The 22-year-old initially joins the Premier League side on loan for the 2026/27 campaign, with Fulham subsequently obligated to complete a permanent transfer. Kicker reports that the purchase obligation is worth approximately €22m.
The move concludes a deadline-day saga that developed rapidly over the closing stages of the window. Get German Football News reported last week that Larsson had travelled to England to hold talks over a potential €25m Premier League switch, with Crystal Palace initially confirmed among the interested clubs.
Fulham subsequently entered the race. GGFN reported on Monday that Larsson’s representatives were negotiating with both London clubs before the midfielder agreed personal terms with Fulham and scheduled his medical on deadline day.
Frankfurt ultimately accepted a deal structured around a delayed permanent payment rather than an immediate sale.
The Sweden international leaves having made 119 competitive appearances for Eintracht across domestic and European competition, scoring ten goals.
Hugo Larsson’s rapid rise at Eintracht Frankfurt
Larsson departs after three years in which he developed from a promising Malmö teenager into one of Frankfurt’s most valuable midfielders. Eintracht signed the Swede from his boyhood club in summer 2023. He established himself almost immediately despite arriving in Germany as a teenager and gradually became a fixture in Frankfurt’s central midfield.
Larsson’s ability to cover ground, carry possession vertically and advance from deeper positions made him particularly useful in systems that asked the double-six to function asymmetrically.
One example arrived during Frankfurt’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in January 2025. The second half of the 2024/25 campaign arguably represented Larsson’s strongest sustained spell in Germany. He helped Frankfurt qualify for the Champions League through their Bundesliga finish and subsequently earned recognition among the league’s better-performing central midfielders.
Last season, Larsson made 25 Bundesliga and seven Champions League appearances. A prolonged slump saw him eventually benched for the final two league fixtures. His estimated market value also declined from €40m to €28m between December 2025 and May 2026 in the Transfermarkt listings.
