Official | Eintracht Frankfurt part ways with head coach Albert Riera

After just 14 games together, Eintracht Frankfurt and Albert Riera have mutually parted ways following Matchday 34’s draw against VfB Stuttgart.

“After intensive discussions, we jointly came to the decision to end our cooperation with immediate effect,” explained sporting director Markus Krösche.

“Albert Riera took over the team during a difficult phase and dedicated himself to Eintracht Frankfurt with great diligence and commitment. Albert and his staff also provided us with valuable impulses through their meticulous work, for which we would like to expressly thank them.

“At the same time, following an open and honest analysis of the sporting development, we came to the conclusion that we want to take a different path going into next season.”

Riera replaced Dino Toppmöller in January and would lose only two of his first nine games in charge. However, two draws and three defeats in their final five games of 2025/26 saw the Hessen club miss out on European football for the first time since 2020/21 after being pipped to seventh place by Freiburg.

“The club and I have mutually agreed to end our cooperation,” said Riera.

“As head coach, I take responsibility for the sporting results, and throughout this period my only focus was to improve the team and achieve success.”
