Borussia Dortmund join Chelsea in race to sign Argentine talent

Borussia Dortmund have already confirmed the signings of Justin Lerma (18) and Kauã Prates (18) from Independiente and Cruzeiro respectively, and now Die Schwarzgelben could utilise the South American market once again.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, BVB have joined Chelsea and Fiorentina in showing interest in Argentine talent Giovanni Baroni (17). The attacking midfielder holds an Italian passport and has a reported €25m release clause but, per Di Marzio, it could be lowered to €15m plus bonuses.

Borussia Dortmund’s transfer window so far

Deals were concluded earlier for Lerma (€4m) and Prates (€7m) but the duo were only able to join their new club upon turning 18. Additionally, Ole Book’s arrival as sporting director has seen the signing of RB Salzburg defender Joane Gadou for €19.5m. With Samuele Inácio and Luca Reggiani featuring prominently in the latter stages of the season, club bosses are certainly laying solid foundation blocks for the future.
