Watch: Borussia Dortmund break hoodoo to beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena

Borussia Dortmund beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga for the first time in almost 10 years on Saturday evening. Goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson secured a 2-0 win for the visitors, their first win at Bayern in the league since April 2014.

Although a disjointed Bayern performance, it was a defensive masterclass from Dortmund with Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck performing magnificently. Bayern’s passiveness allowed Jadon Sancho and Co. time in possession and for the first time in a long time, Dortmund controlled a game at the Allianz Arena.

Excellent in transitioning the ball, Julian Brandt found Adeyemi for Dortmund’s opening goal. The German attacker slotted the ball past Sven Ulreich, who deputised for the injured Manuel Neuer. Sébastien Haller featured for Dortmund for the first time this year after picking up an injury at the Africa Cup of Nations, and the Ivorian assisted Ryerson for BVB’s second of the night as they moved back into fourth and a Champions League spot.
