Thomas Tuchel to leave Bayern Munich

As reported by Sky Germany, Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

It is understood that both sides have agreed upon a separation after fair and positive discussions. It is expected that an official announcement will be made later today.

Despite enjoying one of the best starts to a Bundesliga season, since returning from the winter break, Der Rekordmeister have struggled for form. Defeats to Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen, and VfL Bochum have left Bayern eight points behind Die Werkself in the title race.

As well as this, the defeat to Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie has left Bayern with an uphill battle in their home leg at the Allianz Arena. Bayern now find themselves in a perilous position, as silverware appears to possibly allude them for just the seventh time this century.

In recent weeks, there have been reports surrounding Tuchel’s future, with Xabi Alonso and Zinedine Zidane linked to the Bayern hot seat. Nevertheless, the Bayern board stated that they would give Tuchel until the end of the campaign to rectify the recent run of poor form.

This will see Bayern and Tuchel part ways one year earlier than expected, as the former Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and Chelsea head coach’s contract was set to expire in 2025.
