Bayern Munich are eyeing up former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane

As reported by Sky Germany, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is being considered by the Bayern Munich board to succeed Thomas Tuchel.

Three successive defeats in all competitions have left Bayern in a full-blown crisis. However, the club have confirmed their desire to keep Tuchel in charge until the end of the campaign.

This is mainly due to the fact that there are few candidates available for Der Rekordmeister to instantly install as Tuchel’s replacement, forcing them to wait until the summer. Nevertheless, according to Sky, Zidane would be available to take the reins in Bavaria instantly should Bayern’s poor form continue.

It is understood that the record champions appreciate Zidane’s aura, and having won almost everything during his two stints in charge at the Bernabéu, Bayern are certainly considering the Frenchman as a potential successor to Tuchel. As well as Zidane, as previously reported, Bayern have identified former Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær as a possible solution for the interim manager’s role.

However, while Bayern are preparing for Tuchel’s departure, there is no plan to relieve him of his duties yet, as they hope to analyse their situation in the summer ruthlessly. Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is still undoubtedly Der Rekordmeister’s number one target, but they know they will have to compete with Liverpool.

Nevertheless, Bayern are prepared for the worst and have options on the table. But whether Zidane and Solskjær would be permanent solutions in the summer is not yet clear.
