Thomas Tuchel accepts responsibility but isn’t ‘the only problem’ at Bayern Munich

Days after it was confirmed that Thomas Tuchel would be departing Bayern Munich at the end of the season, the 50-year-old believes that he isn’t the only one responsible for the Rekordmeister’s season.

“It doesn’t matter if I understand the decision of the club or whether I’m happy with it. The only thing that matters now is that there is clarity. Clarity brings freedom and is good for the matches and training,” said Tuchel prior to Bayern’s game against RB Leipzig.

“You don’t have to think about the long-term consequences of your choices. You can be a bit more reckless.”

Bayern Munich could find themselves 11 points behind leaders Bayern Munich on Friday night, while they’re out of the DFB Pokal after losing against 3. Liga side Saarbrücken, and they could face elimination from the Champions League as they’re currently 1-0 down against Lazio.

“We have a discrepancy from training to matches and the coach is responsible,” added Tuchel. “I don’t think I’m the only problem but I accept my responsibility. I’m not satisfied with the way we play and have been unhappy for quite some time.

“Now we have a new situation but the situation has been solved and communicated, but I don’t think I’m the only problem.”

Bayern Munich host RB Leipzig in the Topspiel on Saturday before a difficult game in Freiburg, days before they host Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16 at the Allianz Arena.

With three successive defeats, it’s been quite the week for the reigning champions.
