Sebastian Kehl featured on the bench when Borussia Dortmund last reached a European final. Now, 11 years later, the 44-year-old is sporting director at the club but seeks revenge on Bayern Munich, the team Dortmund lost the 2013 Champions League final to.
Bayern Munich of course play Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu tonight with the tie level at 2-2. A win for the Rekordmeister would set up a Klassiker in the Champions League final, just like the one 11 years ago.
“I would like Bayern,” said Kehl. “I have the feeling we still have a score to settle. We should take the goal down and take it to Dortmund with us. Maybe we’ll need it again at Wembley. It was hell in the dressing room: loud music and alcohol.”
A famous night at the Parc des Princes
Mats Hummels’ goal on the night secured a famous 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in France. The 35-year-old was named Man of the Match for both legs, and it was his defensive masterclass, alongside Nico Schlotterbeck, that kept PSG at bay.
