Robert Andrich warns Bayer Leverkusen teammates ahead of Union Berlin clash

Robert Andrich has warned his Bayer Leverkusen teammates ahead of their upcoming Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon.

After securing a place in the DFB Pokal final following their win against Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer went 40 games unbeaten across all competitions. Andrich, a €6.5m transfer from Union in August 2021, has established himself as a key player under Xabi Alonso and in an interview with Bild, the German midfielder was asked what could go wrong against his former club.

“A lot of battles have already been fought. If Union has a good day and we don’t bring our performance to the pitch, we could lose. But I am confident that we are focused enough to leave undefeated,” said Andrich.

Andrich has played in 21 Bundesliga games this season, mostly alongside Granit Xhaka and in place of Exequiel Palacios. His performances under Alonso this season saw him earn a maiden call-up to the German national team where he’s since played three times under Julian Nagelsmann.

Only Leverkusen teammate Josip Stanišić (2.88) has picked up more points per match than Andrich (2.81) across Europe’s top five leagues this season.
