Ridle Baku likely to leave Wolfsburg in the summer

kicker reports that it is likely that Wolfsburg right-back Ridle Baku will leave the club in the summer with the defender looking to provide a boost in his career.

Baku’s contract at Wolfsburg expires in 2025 and there are talks expected to happen over an extension soon, but if it is not possible then Wolfsburg will be in a position where they would have to likely sell the 25-year-old.

However, there has been no indication from Baku that he will sign a new contract at the club. It is possible that the right-back wants to provide a new lease of life to his career which is currently heading towards a dead end.

The 25-year-old could potentially change his mind as he will be given a run of game time due to the injury to left-back Rogerio which has forced Joakim Maehle to be moved to the left-hand side of defence, freeing up a spot for Baku.

Baku joined Wolfsburg in 2020 from Mainz for €10m and during his time at the club he earned himself a call up to the German national team but was never able to nail down a spot in the squad due to his fluctuating club form.
