Real Madrid reach verbal agreement with Alphonso Davies

As reported by The Athletic, Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

It has long been reported that Los Blancos have been targeting the Canadian left-back, whose contract is set to expire at the Allianz Arena in 2025. However, in recent weeks, discussions between Madrid and Davies’ management have intensified, leading to an agreement being reached.

It is understood that Davies has agreed to join Real either as a free transfer in 2025 or in 2024. Nevertheless, for the latter to come to fruition, Madrid would have to negotiate a fee with Der Rekordmeister.

As to the price Madrid would have to pay, it is not yet clear. But, due to the Canadian’s current contractual status, it is expected that the Spanish side would be able to pay under his current market value.

Regardless, Bayern are determined to not lose Davies and will continue to tempt the fullback to renew his contract. If they are unable to do so, then it is understood that they will look to receive a fee for him this summer.

Los Blancos have beaten off competition from rivals Barcelona as well as interest from numerous Premier League sides in order to reach a verbal agreement with Davies, but a deal is still far from complete.

However, at this moment, Davies prefers a move to Madrid. With Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé set to also sign in the summer, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will undeniably be a force to be reckoned with in Europe.
