RB Leipzig suffer Yussuf Poulsen injury blow

RB Leipzig have been dealt an injury blow as they look to secure Champions League football. Yussuf Poulsen was substituted in the club’s 0-0 draw against Mainz at the weekend and it’s since been confirmed that the Dane has suffered a muscular injury to the back of his left thigh.

Three points behind fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig confirmed that Poulsen will be out “until further notice.”

Mostly used as a substitute this season, Poulsen has come on in 15 of the 26 Bundesliga games that the Danish forward has played this season, scoring five goals – a goal every 231 minutes.

With seven games remaining, RB Leipzig hold a +5 goal difference over Borussia Dortmund with the two teams fighting it out for the final Champions League spot. With games against Freiburg, Wolfsburg and Heidenheim, Marco Rose’s side have a difficult run-in prior to their game against Borussia Dortmund on April 27.
