RB Leipzig steal Bayern Munich wonderkid

As reported by Bild, RB Leipzig have signed Bayern Munich wonderkid Robert Ramšak.

It is understood that Ramšak has signed a long-term deal with Die Roten Bullen after failing to agree a contract extension with the reigning Bundesliga champions. Despite spending ten years in Bayern’s academy system, he will join up with Leipzig in the summer when his deal in Munich comes to an end.

The 17-year-old was part of the German under-17 side that were crowned world champions in December and scored in the penalty shootout as Germany edged past Argentina in the final.

For Leipzig, this deal signals a remarkable piece of business, with Ramšak considered to be one of the most talented players currently in Der Rekordmeister’s academy.

According to TZ, Die Roten Bullen had to contest with a number of European football’s largest clubs in order to receive Ramšak’s signature. With interest from Spain and Italy, Ajax, Sporting Lisbon, and RB Salzburg were also among the clubs interested in luring the teenager away from Bavaria.

Regardless, Leipzig came out on top, with Ramšak considering his chances of breaking into professional football with the Saxon-based club. While he will originally be part of the club’s U-19 side, there is potential for Ramšak to train with the professionals on a regular basis.
