Ralf Rangnick says no to Bayern Munich

Ralf Rangnick has declined the opportunity to become the new Bayern Munich head coach, according to Christian Falk

The Austrian head coach had become the front-runner in recent weeks after the club failed to get Xabi Alonso and then Julian Nagelsmann.

Just 24 hours ago, it was reported that Rangnick and Bayern were discussing the final details of his contract.

Bayern were confident that they had found their man and were willing to offer Rangnick a contract until 2027.

It’s not clear what has happened since then or if there has been a major disagreement. However, one thing is now certain:

Ralf Rangnick will not be the next Bayern Munich manager.

Instead, he will continue to focus on the Austrian national team at this summer’s European Championships and beyond.

This now leaves Bayern searching for a Plan D in their search to find a successor to Thomas Tuchel.

A section of fans have signed a petition to keep Tuchel beyond this summer. Perhaps this latest development may make the Bayern bosses rethink their strategy.
